Title: Refrigeration Technician Grade F1
The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), an organization entrusted with the assessment, collection, and accounting for tax revenues for the Malawi Government is inviting applications from versatile and suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position.
Overall Objective
To ensure the effective operation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems as well as associated electrical infrastructure within MRA offices and facilities. The incumbent will play a critical role in supporting MRA’s physical infrastructure to provide a safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient working environment
Main Responsibilities
- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on refrigeration and air conditioning systems (window units, split units, and water dispensers) in MRA offices.
- Diagnosing and repair electrical faults in HVAC and building systems, including wiring, control panels, and motors.
- Conducting routine inspections to identify faults or areas requiring attention in both refrigeration and electrical systems.
- Ensuring compliance with safety standards and MRA facilities maintenance policies.
- Maintaining maintenance logs and submit daily maintenance feedback reports for all work carried out.
- Responding promptly to emergency breakdowns or service requests at any MRA station.
- Conducting installation and commissioning of new refrigeration and electrical systems.
- Advising on spare parts, consumables, and tools required for efficient system performance.
- Timely closure of work orders to ensure no back log.
Qualifications
Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
City & Guilds diploma/TEVETA level 3/National Trade Test Certificate Grade 1 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, having electrical installation qualification is added advantage.
Years of Experience
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in refrigeration systems maintenance with additional experience in electrical repairs.
Valid registration with a recognized professional or regulatory body (MEI/MERA) is an added advantage
Competencies
Sound technical knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems.
Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting ability.
Good understanding of safety procedures and electrical codes of practice.
Ability to read technical drawings on electrical wiring and building designs.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork orientation.
Good communication skills (oral and written).
High level of integrity, professionalism, and reliability.
Successful candidates before being appointed will undergo an extensive background check of their integrity. Only when the vetting exercise is favourable shall the Authority make the appointment.
