The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), an organization entrusted with the assessment, collection, and accounting for tax revenues for the Malawi Government is inviting applications from versatile and suitably qualified candidates to fill the following  vacant position(s).

Overall Objective

The Maintenance Planning Engineer at Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all maintenance activities for MRA infrastructure, including buildings, HVAC systems, power backup systems (generators, solar), plumbing and security installations. The role ensures timely preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance to maintain a safe, functional, and compliant working environment across all MRA offices.

Main Responsibilities

  • Implementing preventative and predictive maintenance plans by scheduling and production of work orders.
  • Planning and coordinating corrective maintenance activities in response to reported faults or breakdowns.
  • Updating computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) data by tracking all activities, work orders and daily maintenance feedback.
  • Maintaining accurate records of service providers, equipment maintenance history and assets register.
  • Coordinating asset inspections and condition assessments to inform maintenance priorities and capital investment needs.
  • Identifying cost-effective strategies for maintenance, rehabilitation, and upgrade works.
  • Preparing customised technical reports for measuring work order closure rate, MTTF, MTTR and labour usage.
  • Participating and document root cause analysis (Fishbone, 5why, Fault Tree or Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) with the technical team to eliminate re-works and mediocre quality.
  • Supporting internal and external audits with required technical documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline

Competencies

Strong planning and organizational skills.

Ability to produce and read technical drawings in design software (Solidworks, AutoCAD)

Excellent communication and report-writing skills.

Knowledge of Occupational Safety Health and Environment regulations.

High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

Conflict resolution skills.

Years of Experience

Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in asset maintenance planning.

Experience working with CMMS (SAP, Maximo, Oracle) is an added advantage.

Registration with Malawi Engineering Institution is a must.
