POSITION : RE - ADVERTISED - Customs Officer Closed

Duty Station : Various Border and Inland Stations

Job Type : Full-time


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducting verification of Bill of Entries for compliance with Customs law and regulations and the set administrative guide lines
  • Ensuring maximum revenue collection by closing revenue leakage through Undervaluation, Under declaration, Rules of origin, Misclassification/misdeclaration
  • Conduct physical examination of goods
  • Conducting patrols and mounting roadblocks to deter smuggling
  • Supervising consignments; transhipments, temporary imports, re-exports and transits
  • Searching baggage and goods to counter smuggling
  • Checking Temporary Stores, Bonded Warehouses and other Customs Controlled areas
  • Control importation/exportation of restricted goods
  • Identification and profiling of risks in terms of revenue loss or processes and mitigation of such risks
  • Coordinating with stakeholders and other agencies to combat smuggling
  • Handle Taxpayer inquiries
  • Handle taxpayer complaints and feedback Prepare  reports

  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Education and Experience
Applicants should have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor ‘s Degree from a recognized University.

Successful candidates before being appointed will undergo an extensive background check of their integrity. Only when the vetting exercise is favourable shall the Authority make a permanent appointment.
