EXTERNAL VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT:
Deputy
Director Intelligence
The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), an organization entrusted with the assessment, collection and accounting for tax revenues for the Malawi Government is inviting applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates to fill the following vacant position in the Tax Investigations Division.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
·
Reviewing recommendations regarding referral cases of
potential tax fraud/evasion and those from third party informants based on
investigation standards
·
Developing clear linkages with Revenue Divisions for
flow of information on revenue threats
· Promoting stakeholder partnership with other
Enforcement and Investigations Agencies to share intelligence
·
Reviewing and analysing potential compliance levels of
segments of taxpayers
·
Reviewing tax intelligence case evaluation and
selection
·
Conducting quality assurance of retrieved forensic
data for purposes of building up tax investigation cases
·
Reviewing tax evasion forensic evidence
·
Advising on forensic fraud investigations challenges
and propose way forward
·
Submitting analysed intelligence and forensic reports for
decision making
·
Initiating training in intelligence gathering and
analysis, forensic accounting and auditing skills
·
Monitoring the implementation of work plans for the
department and ensure targets are met
·
Facilitating placement of charges over taxpayer assets
temporarily prohibiting the transfer, conversion, disposition or movement of
assets or temporarily assuming custody or control of assets on the basis of an
order of the Commissioner General provided for under a tax law pending the
outcome of investigation case or pending payment of a tax liability
·
Monitoring the proper management of investigation cases
and case files as well as compliance enforcement including collection of
prejudiced taxes
·
Facilitating distraint and disposal of assets where
taxpayer defaults payment of taxes
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants should have the following qualifications and experience: -
·
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Economics, Education, Administration,
Law or closely related field from a reputable and accredited university;
·
Those with a Master’s Degree in a relevant field may have an added
advantage;
· At least 12 years post qualification experience in
tax related matters.
